Mr. Attaf receives his Dutch counterpart

Today, at the Ministry’s headquarters, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, received Mr. Tom Bruijn, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, who is on a working visit to Algeria from November 2 to 3, 2026.
This visit takes place within the framework of ongoing political dialogue between the two sides and reflects their shared commitment to strengthening the momentum that characterizes their bilateral relations.
On this occasion, the Minister of State held one-on-one talks with his Dutch counterpart, followed by an expanded working session involving members of both delegations. These discussions provided an opportunity to review the long-standing ties of friendship and cooperation that have linked the two nations for over four centuries, and to explore ways to expand these relations further—in line with their mutual aspirations—to restore vigor and dynamism to their bilateral cooperation.
In this context, both parties agreed on the necessity of taking concrete steps to revitalize bilateral relations. This includes activating cooperation mechanisms—most notably the Joint Commission for Economic and Technological Cooperation and political consultations—updating and strengthening the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, and encouraging interaction between the business communities to bolster the economic partnership between the two countries.
The meeting also addressed potential cooperation opportunities in priority sectors, specifically energy, renewable energy, water resources, agriculture, and the agri-food industry. Furthermore, the two sides exchanged views on ways to deepen dialogue and coordination regarding migration and consular affairs. The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on key current regional and international issues of common interest.
