President Tebboune congratulates AU Commission’s Chairperson on assuming duties

ALGIERS - President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, sent on Thursday a congratulatory message to the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, on assuming his duties, affirming to him Algeria’s readiness to work together to strengthen cooperation and solidarity between the continent’s countries and peoples.

“On the occasion of your election as the head of the African Union Commission and your assumption of your new duties, I am pleased to extend to you, on behalf of Algeria, its people and government, and on my own behalf, my warmest congratulations and sincere wishes for success in fulfilling your noble mission,” the congratulatory message said.

Your election to this high position mirrors the confidence of African countries in your competence and recognized extensive experience, confirms the high regard you command throughout the continent. I am certain that your leadership will contribute to strengthening joint African action and advancing the African Union's Agenda 2063 objectives. Under your leadership, our organization’s principles will be elevated, giving concrete expression to the vision of the founding fathers of our organization and serving our peoples' aspirations for a strong, prosperous Africa characterized by security and stability.

Your assumption of this position comes at a stage that requires strengthening the pillars of good governance and establishing the foundations of transparency in the Commission of our continental organization, embodying our shared vision towards building a strong institution that carries current burdens and envisions future horizons.

As I renew my heartfelt congratulations, I would like to take this opportunity to affirm Algeria’s full support for your efforts in serving the interests of our continent.
