Attaf is meeting with his Swiss counterpart in Bern

This meeting allowed for “a comprehensive and in-depth assessment of the various dimensions and aspects of Algerian-Swiss relations, and also provided an opportunity to explore ways to elevate them to broader horizons by strengthening political dialogue, consolidating the economic partnership, and enhancing the human dimension of cooperation between the two countries,” according to the statement.
In this regard, it was agreed to “establish an institutional mechanism aimed at developing bilateral cooperation and strengthening the legal framework governing relations between the two countries, in accordance with priorities to be jointly determined,” according to the same source.
Furthermore, according to the ministry's statement, the two ministers discussed “a range of international and regional issues of common interest, such as developments in the Middle East and the latest developments in the Sahel region.” Alongside the discussions, the Minister of State, accompanied by his Swiss counterpart, attended a presentation on the historical relations between Algeria and Switzerland, particularly on the contribution of Swiss friends to supporting the Algerian people during the War of Independence and their leading role in facilitating the Évian Accords negotiations that led to Algeria's independence, as stated in the press release.
In this regard, the two ministers emphasized "the importance of valuing this shared historical heritage and building upon it to perpetuate the traditions of support, solidarity, and friendship between the two countries."
