President of the Republic chairs awarding ceremony of Baccalaureate, Intermediate Certificate winners

ALGIERS — The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired on Tuesday at the People’s Palace, Algiers, the awarding ceremony of the first winners of the Baccalaureate and the Intermediate School Certificate (session of June 2024).

The ceremony took place in the presence of high State officials and members of the Government, as well as the families of the honored students.

 The President of the Republic honored the nation’s top baccalaureate graduate, Mohamed Amine Mokrane from Belkebir Abdelkader High School (province of Tipasa), who obtained an average of 19.62 (mathematics stream), the second best baccalaureate graduate Rahab Maria Ines from Colonel Lotfi (province of Oran), who got an average of 19.54 (experimental sciences stream), the third best baccalaureate graduate Oulem Wissal from Freres-Achi High School (province of Khenchela), who garnered an average of 19.52 (experimental sciences stream).

President Tebboune also Kellouche Djedid Ryad from the Cadets of the Nation School Shaheed Hamdani-Adda, alias Si Othmane (province of Oran), who obtained an average of 19.10 (mathematics stream).

Moving to the people with special needs category, the baccalaureate graduate Hadjer Chergui (province of Batna), who secured an average of 17.87 (experimental sciences stream), Lachlah Alaa (province of El Oued), who got an average of 17.69 and Chems Eddine Aribi (province of Medea), who obtained an average of 16.63 (letters and philosophy stream) were also honored by the President of the Republic.

As for the Intermediate School Certificate (BEM), the President of the Republic awarded the nation’s best pupils, namely Zaghrar Lyna from Mohamed Azzouz Middle School (province of Laghouat), who garnered an average of 19.94, Khitous Hadil from Daoudi-Salah Middle School in Ras El Aioun (province of Batna), who got an average of 19.92, and Chahd Nour El Houda Zaoui from Colonel El Haoues Middle School (province of M’Sila), with an average of 19.87.

The President of the Republic honored the top intermediate school certificate graduates in the category of people with specific needs, namely Doua Touhami (province of Setif), who achieved an average of 18.08, Brahim Ben Ahmed (province of Mila), who got an average of 17.89 and Mohamed Amer (province of Algiers) with an average of 17.54.

Besides, the President of the Republic honored the pupil Derrache Chemseddine Abdelali, who offered Algeria its first gold medal at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad, who succeeded at the Baccalaureate examination this year with an excellent grade.  

The first winners in every subject at the national level were also honored by the President of the Republic.

In this regard, the Minister of the National Education, Abdelhakim Belaabed, made an address in which he thanked the President of the Republic for “chairing this ceremony placed under his patronage,” expressing his gratitude for “the special emphasis he places on the Algerian school.” These indicators augur a “promising future for education and teachers,” he said.

He also welcomed “the historic improvement” in school exam results this year, adding that “the results of the 2024 session are the best since the independence, qualitatively and quantitatively.”

Belaabed commended the “strategic and historic progress made in the education sector, especially pedagogical and educational fields, as well as in socio-professional areas,” emphasizing that “these rapid improvements were made possible thanks to the President of the Republic’s program, which provided the necessary resources and established mechanisms to enhance performance.'"

In a statement to APS, the first winners in the Baccalaureate and Intermediate School Certificate examinations expressed their pride to be honored by the President of the Republic, saying they hope to contribute to the country’s prosperity and development.

In this regard, the gold medalist at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad, Derrache Chemseddine Abdelali, welcomed the support and encouragement of the President of the Republic, to whom he presented his medal on behalf of all the Algerian students in recognition, he said, to “the particular interest he gives to the school” and “his commitment to encouraging the prodigies.”

The first winner in the Baccalaureate examination , Mohamed Amine Mokrane, and the first winner in the examination of the Intermediate School Certificate, Zeghrar Lyna said they are proud for this distinction, which encourages them to “continue their search for knowledge to serve the country in vital and cutting-edge scientific fields.”

For his part, Kellouche Djedid Ryad, the top graduate from the National Cadet School, emphasized the consistent positive outcomes achieved by the cadets of the People’s National Army (PNA) each year. He expressed his desire to continue serving the country and safeguarding its vital interests within the military institution, which he described as an organization that "protects its children and prepares them to defend the nation on all fronts"."

At the end of the ceremony, the honored students took a souvenir photo with the President of the Republic, under the proud gazes of their families.
